Hallingline
Hallingdans and wire dancing have more in common than you might think. In this eight-minute-long act, these two ancient forms of dance meet and become one.
I became interested in hallingdans because I saw a lot of similarities to circus, and immediately saw the opportunity to mix hallingdans and tightwire. I have previously worked with mixing tightwire with both modern dance, parkour and miming, so hallingdans seemed like the next exciting thing. But as I learned to dance halling, and learned about the history of dance, I realized that it is about so much more than showing acrobatical dance to fiddle music. Hallingdans has a great cultural and historical importance in Norway, and is a fantastic free way of expression that has helped many generations of Norwegians to express themselves. I quickly realized that if I was going to mix hallingdans and tightwire, it had to be done properly. I did not want to use hallingdans as a cheap concept, but really dig deep and find the essence of what hallingdans actually is. After much comparison and fusion of hallingdans and tightwire, I am proud to present "Hallingline", my personal contribution to Norwegian culture.
